Cynthia Jenkins

Head of Supplier Diversity
Group M
New York

Cynthia Morgan Jenkins is a highly respected media maven whose experience in sales negotiation for diverse-owned and targeted media is to be commended. For decades, she has been the only Black female seller with experience in all primary forms of media — radio, print, digital, and video — locally and nationally in the top advertising markets. Cynthia began her career in sales as one of the two minorities hired to diversify Howard Stern’s national radio show. Her inept ability to connect with decision-makers was noticed early on, and she was tapped by colleagues who became lifelong friends to help launch the nation’s first Hip-Hop radio station, HOT 97, in New York. Just shy of a decade at HOT, she transitioned to print media as a salesperson with EBONY and JET magazines, eventually moving on to BET Networks, where, as a sales director, she managed teams in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

At the height of the social justice movement, Cynthia focused her efforts on supporting diverse media alongside those controlling the advertising dollars. She shifted to the other side of the table to join the decision-makers at ad agencies, first as VP of Economic Development at Dentsu, followed by WPP GroupM, where she is currently the Head of Supplier Diversity in Investment. Cynthia is a master at relationships and has affectionately been called the "client whisperer." Dedicated to the cause, both professionally and personally, Cynthia was raised with a sense of giving back, following her mother's example, she has devoted her free time to giving back through service organizations in the Black community.

With all she has done and continues to grow in advertising media, Cynthia is most proud of her life outside of her career, where she is dedicated to her family as a wife and mother of two young adults in college. Her commitment to today’s youth has earned her recognition throughout New York and nationwide for her dedication to the next generation.
