Roy Milton

Creative Director
StudioX
New York City

Roy is currently a Creative Director at StudioX (WPPs OpenX) leading social and culture-first work for Coca-Cola brands like Sprite, Minute Maid and Gold Peak. During his tenure at VML, he’s impacted brands like: ADT, Intel, Progressive Insurance, Gatorade, NAPA Auto Parts, Skyy Vodka, Quiktrip, Audible, and Risideo. His passion in leading creative delicately woven with cultural nuance began at Sanders\Wingo, an El Paso & Austin based multicultural agency as AOR for AT&T, DirectTV, State Farm Insurance and many more. A recent example of his innate ability to connect culture and commerce includes Progressive Insurance’s Replay Super Bowl campaign called, “Watch Party,” featuring legendary Hip Hop duo, Kid ‘n Play. Along with friend and colleague Walter Geer, the two crafted the idea within 48 hours and pitched it to clients.  The commercial takes a trip down memory lane to an all too familiar house party gone array, but this time it’s all covered by Progressive. Cultural nods celebrating Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary also included iconic dance talent like Ashley Everett (former Beyonce dance captain) doing the famous kick step with a tiger mascot and a custom music track in collaboration with Flyana Boss that was “monumental.”

Throughout Roy’s career, he’s led several DE&I initiatives, mentorship and student creative programs both within VML NA and beyond. He is often a guest speaker and mentor in One School and other student portfolio reviews. As a Board Member and former Vice President, he led the design and rebranding of KCAdClub, previously known as AAF-KC and was named the 2020 Trailblazer of the Year.  Outside of work, he is an avid sneaker collector and talented customizer, father of 3 teenagers and a devoted husband of 18 years.
